Outcome Statement

After reading this section, you will understand how Prepared Live enhances emergency response by enabling 911 PSAPs to access live video, photos, GPS location, and texts. You will also learn how EED (Enhanced Emergency Data) and ELS (Emergency Location Services) improve location accuracy and how these technologies work together to provide faster and more informed responses.

Overview

Prepared Live is a platform that allows 911 PSAPs to access critical emergency data, including live video, photos, GPS location, and text messages, for any mobile 911 call they receive. This data is shared with first responders in real-time, helping them arrive at the scene faster and better prepared to handle the emergency. EED and ELS enhance Prepared Live's location tracking by providing more accurate and timely location data, reducing response times.

How does Prepared Live work?

  1. A citizen calls 911.

  2. If the terms and conditions have been signed and the call comes from a supported device or geofence, the data will be automatically captured, and no text link is necessary.

  3. If the call does not meet the above criteria, a 911 operator texts the citizen a web link to initiate Prepared Live. No installed software is required for the caller.

  4. The citizen uses the web link to stream live video and share their GPS location with the 911 operator.

  5. The 911 operator views the data and relays it to first responders, who can view the live video and location information in real-time.

  6. First responders arrive on the scene faster and better-informed, with a clearer understanding of the emergency situation.

  7. Once the emergency is resolved, all collected data is stored for later review or future reference.

Benefits of Prepared Live

  • Real-time Communication: Prepared Live facilitates the instant sharing of live video, photos, and GPS location data with first responders, ensuring they arrive at the scene prepared for the situation.

  • Faster Response Times: First responders receive critical data before they arrive, leading to quicker decision-making and more efficient response efforts.

  • No Software Required: Citizens do not need to install any software to use Prepared Live. They simply click a link to stream video and share their location.

  • Comprehensive Data Storage: Once the emergency is resolved, all collected data is stored for later review or future reference.

What are EED and ELS?

  • EED = Enhanced Emergency Data (Apple)

  • ELS = Emergency Location Services (Android)

Compared to traditional ANI/ALI, EED and ELS provide more accurate and timely location data by leveraging multiple data sources, such as GPS, Wi-Fi, and mobile networks. These technologies also provide location data faster than traditional methods, which enhances emergency response times and helps first responders arrive better prepared.

Why are EED and ELS Important to You and Your Organization?

  • Accuracy: EED and ELS provide the most accurate and timely location data, reducing response times and improving the quality of emergency services.

  • Customer Needs: Many customers rely on other sources for accurate location data. By integrating EED and ELS, Prepared becomes a more attractive location tool for 911 PSAPs, improving Prepared's overall offering.

  • Vendor Fatigue: Many agencies face vendor fatigue and lack additional screen real estate. By replacing other location tools, Prepared makes it easier to rely on one platform instead of multiple vendors.

How Does Prepared Access This Data?

  • EED: Prepared partners directly with Apple to access EED data.

  • ELS: Prepared works with a preferred provider and other sources to bring ELS data to the platform, allowing for enhanced location capabilities.

How Do You Know if a Customer Has EED or ELS Enabled?

  • You will begin to see "Apple Device" or "Android Device" listed on the 911 call details for customers who have EED or ELS enabled.

How Prepared Live Improves Public Safety

By leveraging existing technology, Prepared Live strengthens emergency information flow, enhances situational awareness, and improves overall public safety. The platform helps bridge the communication gap between the 911 operator and first responders, ensuring they have the most up-to-date and accurate information available when they arrive on the scene.
