Outcome Statement

After reading this section, you will understand what EED (Enhanced Emergency Data) and ELS (Emergency Location Services) are, how they work, and how they benefit both you and your organization.

Overview

EED (Enhanced Emergency Data) and ELS (Emergency Location Services) are modern technologies that provide more accurate and timely location data compared to traditional ANI/ALI methods. These technologies help improve the accuracy of location data by using GPS, Wi-Fi, and mobile networks, and they are critical for providing faster and more accurate emergency responses.

What are EED and ELS?

  • EED = Enhanced Emergency Data (Apple)

  • ELS = Emergency Location Services (Android)

Compared to traditional ANI/ALI, EED and ELS provide more accurate and precise location data by leveraging multiple data sources, such as GPS, Wi-Fi, and mobile networks. These methods also provide location data faster than ANI/ALI. PSAPs often refer to this data as "device" location or location provided by other sources.

Why are EED and ELS Important to You and Your Organization?

  • Accuracy: EED and ELS provide the most accurate and timely location data. This allows you to reduce response times and improve the quality of emergency services.

  • Customer Needs: Many customers rely on other sources for accurate location data. While Prepared offers ANI/ALI location data, this offering lags behind the industry standard. By integrating EED and ELS, Prepared becomes a more attractive location tool for your needs.

  • Vendor Fatigue: You may already be facing vendor fatigue and lack extra screen real estate. A common objection to Prepared is that it adds another expensive vendor whose offerings aren’t mission-critical. However, location data is essential, and Prepared’s ability to replace existing tools makes us a more compelling choice, reducing the need for additional vendors.

How Does Prepared Access This Data?

  • EED: Prepared partners directly with Apple to access EED data.

  • ELS: Prepared works with a preferred provider to access ELS data. We work with other sources to bring this data to our platform.
